Roosevelt Alumni to lead Motorcade to Community Meeting

Roosevelt College and Career Academy

Crusader Staff Report

Alumni of the Roosevelt College and Career Academy will travel by motorcade to a community meeting about the future of the school’s historic building on Tuesday, August 13 at 6 p.m. at the Gary Area Career Center.

The motorcade will begin lining up at 3 p.m. at 25th and Harrison near  Roosevelt College and Career Academy.

The meeting will be the second meeting the state-controlled Gary Community School Corporation will hold with residents to determine whether the Roosevelt’s historic building will reopen again. The building was closed in February after the pipes burst during several days of sub-zero temperatures. Since then, school and state officials have drawn criticism after not being transparent in its plans with the Roosevelt’s storied building.
